Your Work Selected for new LogoLounge Master Library

Received an e-mail this afternoon informing me that one of the logos I'd submitted to the LogoLounge database has been selected for their first Master Library books. It is a distinct honor and great pleasure to have been selected.

The logo selected is one I did for Double R Manufacturing Inc. A powdercoating company in Roseburg, Oregon. The logo unfortunately was ultimately unused due to inhouse politics.

"Your work has been selected for a remarkable new LogoLounge project, the first book in the new Master Library series.

What is the Master Library series?

Like our existing (and continuing) LogoLounge book series, the new Master Library books will bring you plenty of exemplary logo design work from creatives around the world.

Unlike our original series, though, each book in the Master Library series will focus on a very specific logo design category, to wit:

• Initials & Crests
• Typography
• People
• Animals, Birds and Mythology
• Shapes and Symbols
• Nature and Food
• Arts and Culture (including transportation, sports and architecture)

We’d like to include your work in the inaugural book, Initials & Crests."

LogoLounge Book 5 Surprise!

Today I was thumbing through e-mails on my Blackberry as I sat in the parking lot at my wife's work, waiting for her to get off work. To my surprise, I received an e-mail today from LogoLounge stating that one of the logos that I'd submitted had been selected to be published in their latest book. For those that don't know, LogoLounge is one of the premier logo related resources and publications and I'm distinctly honored to be included. The surprise in this announcement comes with the assumption on my part that the final judging had already been completed in early September, and the winners had already been contacted via e-mail. A pleasant and welcome surprise to be sure. My theories regarding a personal LogoLounge curse were quelled. ;-)

A little information regarding LogoLounge:

How do you get your work in an upcoming LogoLounge book?
It's simple: Become a LogoLounge member, and your work will be considered for a future book. Becoming a LogoLounge member also means you become a member of a larger community of designers who, like you, are vitally interested in logo design, its history and future. In addition, you receive the full functionality of the site, including enhanced search powers, a personal lightbox, and rating and commenting capabilities.

How do you select the firms you feature in the books?
The projects in the book are selected for their quality, timeliness, and relevance, and inspirational nature. We aim to form an effective mix of large and smaller firms, geographies, budgets, and client types.

Over 33,000 logos were entered for consideration and evaluated by an international panel of judges. This years panel included, Andreas Karl of Karl Design, Von Glitschka of Glitschka Studios, Michelle Sonderegger of Design Ranch, Sarah Moffat of Turner Duckworth, Jamie Koval of VSA Partners, Vince Frost of Frost Design, Bronwen Rautenbach of The Brand Union, and Alex de Janosi of Lippincott.

LogoLounge Volume 5 has a release date of June 2009.

LogoLounge Call for Entries

The recent LogoLounge Call for Entries ended on June 30th. The anticipation associated with the opportunity to be published in the LogoLounge books is tangible. Despite the fact that none of my logos were chosen last year I was determined to submit more work and not be too disheartened. I'm hopeful! I've posted an image showcasing the majority of the logos I've submitted this year and plan to continue to submit throughout the coming year in anticipation of the next Call for Entries.

Wish me luck!
